Jokowi to lead ground breaking of PLTU Lontar extension

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to lead Friday a ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of the PLTU Banten 3 unit 4 coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 1?315 MW.

The power plant project is located at Lontar Village, Kemiri District, Tangerang Regency, Banten Province.

This was said by Senior Manager for Public Relations at state power firm PT PLN Agung Murdifi to Petromindo.com on Thursday. He said that Jokowi will also symbolically inaugurate the operation of several sub-stations at the event.

The PLTU Lontar Unit 4 is to be developed and owned by PLN. It is financed through direct lending facility from Japan Bank International Corporation (JBIC) worth US$204.5 million and 16.3 billion yen and PLN's own funds of Rp 1.4 trillion . The power plant is expected to be on stream by 2019. PLTU Lontar has has existing capacity of 3x315 MW.
