South Kalimantan coal mining firm PT Jorong Barutama Greston (JBG), a unit of IDX-listed coal mining group PT Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITM), has prepared its mining closure stage for which the post-mining plan document has been prepared, parent company has said.

The activities related to the mine closure are held in collaboration with Lambung Mangkurat University, South Kalimantan, ITM said.

Based on ITM presentation in early May, Jorong?s remaining reserves are only 5 million. The company is expected to produce 1.2 million tons of coal for this year, slightly up from last year?s total output of 1.1 million tons

Earlier report said that JBG will cease mining operations in 2015 due to reserves depletion.

Jorong, which is located in Pelaihari and Jorong sub-districts, Tanah Laut regency is a second generation of CCoW holder within area of 11,478 ha. The mine has been in production since 1999. The CV of the coal is 5800-5300 kcal/kg (ADB) with low Sulphur content of 0.3%.

ITM is using coal from Jorong for blending with ITM?s other coal mines, which is high CV but also high sulphur.
