A 50 mmscfd Floating Regasification Unit (FRU) facility developed by Jaya Samudera Karunia (JSK) Group has been brought to the Benoa Mini LNG Terminal in Bali and the installment of the facility has been completed.

The FRU built by GAS Entec, a South Korean LNG engineering specialist, was launched late February in South Korea. On March 22, the FRU was delivered to Benoa LNG terminal, which is operated by PT Pelindo Energi Logistik (PEL), a subsidiary of state owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) III.

"The FRU arrived at Benoa on March 29 and it has now completed commissioning," Director of Operations and Business Development of Pelindo III, Rahmat Satria told Petromindo.com.

He added that with the FRU having been installed, the Benoa LNG terminal is now ready to operate.

Last January, PEL signed a contract with JSK Group to provide FRU and Floating Storage Unit (FSU) for the Benoa terminal for a duration of 5-7 years.

"The FSU will be completed and installed in the terminal next year. This year we still use LNG carrier as the FSU," an official at JSK Group said earlier.

The LNG terminal will deliver 40 mmscfd of gas, sourced from the Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan, to the 200 MW PLTDG Pesanggaran diesel and gas power plant in Pesanggaran, Bali owned by PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

Rahmat said earlier that the Benoa LNG terminal will start operation in early May.
