Coal miner PT Anugrah Karya Raya, a subsidiary of PT AKR Corporindo Tbk has set up a joint venture with PT Austral Byna for building hauling roads in North Barito district, Central Kalimantan.

Austral Byna is a holder of forestry concessions in North Barito.

Anugrah Karya and Austral Byna established PT Berkah Rukun Bersama in the form of 50:50 JV which would build, upgrade and operate coal-hauling roads that would also be made available for surrounding coal mines.

?Development of crucial infrastructure such as hauling roads, coal terminals and other infrastructure is a key part of our strategy to expand AKR?s energy distribution and logistics business. With the establishment of this coal-hauling subsidiary and on receipt of all necessary permits and licenses to operate our coal concessions, AKR is ready to commence mining activities from its coal concessions in the coming weeks,? Haryanto Adikoesoemo, President Director of PT AKR Corporindo Tbk said in the recent press statement.

?An integrated coal logistics infrastructure is a very critical asset to be successful in the coal business in Kalimantan?, Haryanto said.
