The Indonesia Anti Dumping Committee (KADI) announced last week it would carry out sunset review of the current anti-dumping duties imposed on HRC from South Korea and Malaysia following complaints from Indonesia steel giant PT Krakatau Steel Tbk.
KADI said that despite the introduction of anti-dumping duties on hot-rolled coil (HRC) from South Korea and Malaysia in 2011, import of the product remains strong, with imports from the two countries accounting for 43 percent of the total HRC import. KADI has found early indication of continuing dumping practices.
The committee said that import from Malaysia has been imposed with a duty of 48.4 percent since 2011, but the import volume has risen from 56 MT in 2011 to 65 MT last year.
Meanwhile, import from South Korea has been subject to anti-dumping duties of 0-0.38 percent, but import has risen from 598,233 MT in 2011 to 633,061 MT last year.
