Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) hailed the government's plan to ask the country's banking sector to help finance the construction of smelters to process mining products.
Chairman of KADIN Suryo Bambang Sulisto told Petromindo at the State Palace that the role of banking would be crucial to realize the much-debated added value of minerals as its construction needed huge capital.
"The investment in smelters needs very huge funds. Miners need help including from the banking sector...It would speed up the program to increase added value of mineral," Sulisto said.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik earlier told Petromindo.com about his plan to invite banking to help the financing smelters.
