Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Suryo Bambang Sulistyo called on mining industry players in the country to adopt coal upgrading technology currently being applied by Korea Institute of Energy Research in cooperation with PT Sucofindo.
Sulistyo said that the technology to upgrade low-rank calorie coal to middle-rank calorie coal would bring much benefit for the country which has abundant low-rank calorie coal reserves.
"It is a good technology. If it exists we (must) get it. Because we have abundant supply of low rank-coal," he told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.
Recently, PT Sucofindo has signed a deal of cooperation with Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) to upgrade low rank calorie coal from Indonesia before it is exported to supply power plants in South Korea.
