KAI adds new locomotives to transport PTBA coal

State railway firm PT.KAI will soon operate nine new locomotives to boost coal transportation volume from PT.Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) mine in Muara Enim, South Sumatra to Tarahan coal port in Lampung province.
KAI CFO Ahmad Kuncoro Hadiwidjoyo said the locomotives, which were made in Canada, would start operations this month. Kuncoro said the locomotives cost the company US$20 million.
PTBA Investor Relations Head Nurtimah Tobing told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that the locomotives addition would boost transportation volume from Tanjung Enim to Kertapati by 20 percent or 9.6 million tonnes this year.(denny)
