Kalimantan Electricity plans hydro power projects in N. Kalimantan

PT Kalimantan Energy plans to build hydro power plants in Nunukan and Malinau regencies, North Kalimantan Province, with combined capacity of up to 3,000 MW.

North Kalimantan Governor Irianto Lambrie told Petromindo.com recently that the company has completed the required environmental impact assessment (or AMDAL) for the projects.

He said that the company will partner with Chinese investor in the projects. Remaining obstacle is securing the required financing, he added, but did not provide further details.

Irianto previously said that a hydro power plant project, with initial capacity of 900 MW, in the province?s Bulungan Regency, to be developed by a company called PT Kayan Hidro Energy is expected to start this year.
