Mining companies in Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar) regency in East Kalimantan are considering the possibility of establishing an association, which will represent the companies' interest either regionally or nationally, Kaltim Post reported on Saturday.
"The possibility of establishing the association has been formally discussed with executives of several coal mining companies in the regency," said Setia Budi, an owner of a coal concession area in Kukar.
Budi, who is also a member of the Golkar faction at the local legislative council (DPRD), said that he would also ask an approval from Regent Syaukani for the establishment of the association. (*)
