Kalimantan coal trader PT Berkah Anugerah Abadi Sejahtera (BAAS) emerged as lowest bidder for 4,800 Kcal/kg coal supply tender held by PT. Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB) for Paiton power plant, a PJB official said.

Tender Committee Official Harry Purnomo told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that BAAS might be formally appointed as tender winner after PJB completed field verification.

He decline to disclose the price offered by BAAS.

Harry said there were 10 companies competed in the 4,800 Kcal/kg tender.

If appointed winner, BAAS would supply 40,000 tonnes of coal per month in 2009-2010 period. Harry said first delivery is expected April 2009.

Harry said that 5,100Kcal/kg supply tender was canceled as the tender was one-participant short. The tender required at least three participants.

He said PJB would conduct re-tender but was in no hurry as Paiton?s coal stock is currently adequate.

PJB on December 3, 2008 opened two separate PQ tenders to supply 100,000 tonnes per month (TPM) of coal, which consisted of 40,000 TPM of 4,800 kcal/kg A.R coal and 60,000 TPM of 5100 kcal/kg A.R coal.(denny)
