Kalla Group to build 450 MW hydro power plant

PT Hadji Kalla and PT Bukaka (both under the Kalla Group) plans to build a 450 MW hydro power plant in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, the local news portal Fajar.co.id reported Tuesday.
Kalla Group, which is owned by the family of former vice president Jusuf Kalla, will first develop a 34 km road linking the Kalumpang District and the Karama Village, where the power plant will be located.
The report did not say the timeline for the power plant project, nor the required investment. But Development Manager of the Kalla Group, Tadjuddin was quoted as saying that the plan is to first develop a smaller 10 MW plant, and gradually to expand the project to reach a total 450 MW. (*)
