The legislative council of East Kalimantan has approved the local government's proposal to inject additional funds of about Rp 72 billion for the development of a coal-fired power plant in Tanjung Batu, Kutai Kartanegara regency, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.
Nusyirwan Ismail, a senior official at the local government's office, said that the additional funds were needed to increase the capacity of the power plant to 2x25 MW. The local government has previously provided Rp 96 billion for the power project.
The power plant is being built by PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim in cooperation with the local government. "With the additional funds, the local government can maintain its ownership in the project at 60 percent," he added. (*)
