Members of the Kampar Regency Council's Commission D have found thousands of cubic meters of C-class mining minerals in Kamparkiri during their recent visit to their area.
The head of Commission D, H. Munir Junu Dt. Bandaro said in Bangkinang on Friday that the illegal C-category minerals were found in a number of villages, including in Kuntu and Telukpaman.
"If previously we only got reports about the illegal C minerals, now, after the visit to Kamparkiri last Monday, we saw ourselves piles of C-minerals that were mined illegally," he said.
C-class minerals are subject to local taxes.
He noted that the illegal minerals in Kuntu village allegedly belong to PT Langgadai, while those in Telukpaman allegedly belong to PT SAJ.
Councilor from Kampar, Djanuarel, called on the mining office to give serious attention to such illegal mining activities and take stern actions against them to prevent further illegal mining in the area.
"I also call on the people and also companies to get the licenses before mining C-minerals so that the administrations will get the revenues it needs from the mining of C-minerals," he said. (*)
