Kangean Energy Indonesia: FSO Concord hit by storm

(Jakarta, 26 December 2007, at 22.30 hrs)--On Wednesday, 26 December 2007 at 16.00 hrs, storm was experienced around Sepanjang Island. Wind speed was 30 - 45 Knot and waves were as high as 3 to 4 meters.
The storm caused FSO Concord to drift towards the coast. This FSO contains ? 200,000 barrels of crude oil. Current position is at coordinates 07o 11? 205? S: 115o 47? 124? E within the working area of Kangean Energy Indonesia Ltd.
Preventive actions have been undertaken to avoid potential further damages. Necessary equipment and tug boats have been prepared to return the FSO back to the original position.
As part of the emergency response procedure among PSCs, Kangean Energy Indonesia Ltd has made coordination with BPMIGAS, Pertamina Situbondo and The Coordinator of Oil Spill Contingency Plan Area V (PTMP V). (end of release)
