Kangean shuts down crude production after tanker catches fire

Crude production from Sepanjang field in Kangean PSC, East Java was stopped after crude container tanker ?Gagasan Perak? caught fire on Saturday, an official with upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Monday.
Spokesman Elan Biantoro told Petromindo.Com that the fire had caused damaged to the tanker and forced operator Kangean Energy Indonesia to stop crude production operations.
Elan said that prior to the incident, Sepanjang field produced around 1,800 barrels of crude per day.
He said production would resume after tanker replacement was already arrived in location. Currently the replacement tanker is on standby in Batam and appointment and mobilization process would take around 1 month to complete. (godang/bernard)
