PT Kar Powership, a local subsidiary of Turkey-based floating power plant maker Karpowership, will team up with Indonesia?s state-owned ship maker PT PAL Indonesia to develop power ships with combined capacity of 5,000 MW over a seven-year period.
The two companies signed a MoU on Friday in Jakarta for cooperation in the development of the power ships. PAL President Director Firmansyah Arifin said that the power ships will be built at his company?s production facility.
Kar Powership will transfer the power ship technology to PAL ranging from installation, construction and design to procurement and maintenance.
Kar Powership has supplied power ships to provide electricity in remote regions in the country such as one stationed in Amurang, North Sulawesi. ?We will continue delivering power ships to Ambon, Lombok, Kupang and Medan in the next couple of months,? said PT Kar Powerships CEO Orhan Remzi Karadeniz.
