Kardaya Warnika to be sworn in as BPMIGAS chief

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro would swear in Kardaya Warnika as chief of the oil and gas sector upstream authority BPMIGAS to replace Rachmat Soedibjo on Tuesday, a ministry spokesperson told Petromindo.Com Monday.

Kardaya is currently BPMIGAS vice chairman.

Kardaya was born in Cirebon, in 1952. He completed his bachelor study in petroleum engineering at the prestigous Bandung Institute of Technology in 1978 and received his PhD degree from IFP's Ecole Natur Superior du Petrole Motors (ENSPM) in France 1987.

He worked for state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina from 1978 to 1982 and once served as director for exploration and production at Directorate General of Oil and Gas. He was economics and finance assistant for Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources before he assumed his current position at BPMIGAS. (godang)
