Karimun power plant to get 300,000 tons per year coal supply

The 2x25 MW coal-fired power plant in Karimun, Riau Islands, will get 300,000 tons of coal supply a year from a concession belonging to PT Indo Wana Bara Mining Coal (IWBMC), the plant's contractor.

The firm and its coal mine is now in the process of being acquired by PT Perdana Karya Perkasa, according to Perdana Karya President Director Untung Haryono.

"The coal will be supplied by a coal mine in West Kutai, which we are currently acquiring. This acquisition process is targeted to be finalized in the first quarter," said Untung to petromindo.com in Jakarta.

Untung said the power plant is scheduled for commercial operation in 2015.

"The capital is expected to be generated from upcoming rights issue later in January. In total, we expect to rake in Rp6.5 trillion proceed from the issue," he added.

Of which Rp900 billion will be used to develop the power plant.
