Karnataka Power to call for bids to supply 1.5MT of coal

The company?s official told Petromindo.Com that the coal import should be have a calorific value of 6,000 kcal/kg (ADB), total moisture (TM) of 15% and ash content of less than 15%.
Currently, the company consumed around 7 million tons of coal per annum, around 80 percent of which is sourced from the domestic market, and the remaining 20 percent imported, mostly from Indonesia, the official said.
KPCL currently operates two thermal plants that is the 1470-MW Raichur power plant and the 500-MW Bellary power plant. It has planned expansion to boost its power generation capacity to 5,000 MW by 2014, added.
According to Times of India, KPCL has already completed all formalities, including finalization of tender to start the work on super critical power station in Chhattisgarh at Godhna (1,600 MW-- 2x800 MW), at Yermarus (1,600 MW -- 2x800 MW) and Edlapur (800 MW -- 1x800) in Raichur district of Karnataka. Work has also started in respect of Unit-3 at Bellary Thermal Power Station (700 MW -- 1x700 MW). (denny)
