East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Kartika Selabumi Mining has recently started its coal production, an official of the company said on Wednesday.
?Production started on June 3 and we are now shipping 3,000 tons of coal for trial to the Balikpapan Coal Terminal,? company project manager Dadang Suratman told Petromindo.Com in a telephone interview.
Kartika?s coal concession is located in Kutai Regency, near Mahakam River. The concession, currently, contains a sub bituminous coal of around six million tons in mineable reserves.
As previously reported, Kartika had appointed PT Kalimantan Citra Bara (KCB) as the sole marketing agent for its coal products. KCB is a Gunung Bayan group company, which operates the Balikpapan Coal Terminal.
Dadang further said Kartika is on schedule to produce around 400,000 tons of coal by the end of this year. (robert)
