Karya Bumi to commence production this year end

Coal miner, PT Karya Bumi Baratama (PT KBB) planned to commence its first production of about 50,000 tons of low rank coal with calorific value of 5,200-5,800 kcal/kg this year from its mining concessions in Muara Indung, Jambi.

?We expect the first production by this year end,? an official of the company told Petromindo.Com.

Karya Bumi which is 95 percent owned by Korean business players and 5 percent by Indonesian business people has concession in Muara Indung, Lubuk Sepuh Sarolangun, Jambi and Musirawas in South Sumatera with a total mineable reserves of 232.750 million metric tons.

The company said that it has completed exploration in June 2007 and is currently conducting activities in development exploration and construction stage within blocks of potential areas.

The temporary result of the exploration indicates the formation of 3 (three) layers of coal with a thickness between 7 to 10 meters, which is geologically included in Muara Enim formation of coal seam, spreading from northwest to southeast with an average slope of ? 5?.
