Karya Pacific Shipping to enlarge its fleet

Shipping company PT Karya Pacific Shipping is expecting to increase its capacity of coal transshipment by expanding its fleet by next year.
Kahar Chua, Director of PT Karya Pacific Shipping, told Petromindo.com on Monday that currently the company has a six unit-strong fleet, with each unit consisting of a tug boat and a barge with the capacity of 7500 tons, which combined is targeted to load about 1.3 million ton of coal this year.
"We plan to add about 4 units to the fleet next year, each with the same capacity," he said adding that the company is also targeting to boost its load capacity up to 2 million ton in 2014 once the new units have come into operation. At present, the company provides coal transshipment service in Jambi and South Sumatra.
The firm was established in 2011 and part of Karya Tehnik Group with businesses covering a wide range of shipping transportation.
