Kayan LNG Nusantara (KLN) have supported PT PLN Energi Gas (PLN) in achieving its first successful gas-in operations at the Tarakan LNG regasification facility, North Kalimantan. This landmark project, fully owned and operated by PLN, secures a stable gas supply for the 53 MW Tarakan gas-fired power plant, strengthening electricity reliability for the city and surrounding areas.
As the key LNG solutions partner, KLN applied its proven expertise in end-to-end ISO tank-based LNG supply chain management to ensure a smooth and reliable start-up. KLN’s role is instrumental in overcoming limited gas availability, enabling PLN’s Tarakan power plant to now operate consistently at full capacity when required.
“KLN is honored to partner with PLN in this pioneering achievement,” said a KLN spokesperson. “Our contribution reflects KLN’s commitment to operational excellence and to supporting Indonesia’s clean energy transition through reliable LNG solutions.”
KLN looks forward to deepening its strategic partnership with PLN, delivering energy to Indonesia’s isolated and underserved grids, and expanding its LNG expertise to more regasification and LNG-to-power projects across the archipelago.
“This success at Tarakan is only the beginning. Together with PLN, KLN will continue to expand access to cleaner and more reliable energy for Indonesian archipelagic regions and communities nationwide,” the spokesperson added.
