PT Krakatau Daya Listrik (KDL), a subsidiary of IDX-listed steel maker PT Krakatau Steel Tbk, said it has selected the preferred EPC contractor for the provision of boiler for a 2x80 MW coal-fired power plant in Cilegon, Banten Province.

Indra Pinem, Planning and Commerce Director at KDL told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the company is currently in negotiation process with the preferred bidder.

"If we have reached a deal with the preferred bidder, we expect by next week we can declare the winning bidder," he said, adding that if there is no deal, the company will talk with the second preferred bidder.

While not disclosing their identities, he said the preferred bidders were state-owned enterprises. KDL held a tender participated by six firms to select EPC contractor for the boiler project.

The power plant project is located at Krakatau steel plant complex in Cilegon.
