KEM attacked for turning grave yard into waste disposal

A family in Loa Tepu village, in Long Iram sub district, West Kutai regency, East Kalimantan, has filed a complaint against gold mining company PT Kelian Equatorial Mining (KEM) for turning the family's grave yard into a waste disposal area, the local Samarinda Post daily reported.

The Jumadi Family said in a letter sent to the West Kutai parliament and administration that KEM made the condemnation of the burial land without his permission and without providing any compensation.

He said that there were at least eight graves in the area. (*)
