?Overall, the implementation of the safety systems was considered of a high standard and the significant reduction in number of Lost Time Injuries is commendable,? Jan Andersen, acting president director of KEM said in a statement.
The rating followed an audit of KEM?s healthy and safety systems by two NOSA auditors recently.
?For the rolling 12-month period, KEM has 7 Lost Time Injury, 0.25 percent Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate and 82.84 percent Effort Rating, which equates to a Four Star rating,? Troy O?Connnor, lead auditor of NOSA said in the same statement.
KEM operates a large open pit gold mine in West Kutai, East Kalimantan, and 1,900 people currently working at its project. Of them 1,000 are from its contractors.
NOSA, established in South Africa in 1951, is a world-class occupational health, safety and environmental risk management system. (robert)
