Kepco, Sojitz pass prequalification for Bali Timur power plant

Bambang Praptono, the director for planning of the state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), said that the three are the consortium of Kepco of Japan-PT Indonesia Power-LG-CDB-EWP; the consortium of International Power-Sojitz-PT Kerabat Prima Abadi and the consortium of Evonik-PT Indah Usaha Tama.
He said that the coal-fired power plant would operate as an independent power producer (IPP) scheme. The power plant which is expected to begin operation in 2013, will sell its electricity to PLN.
?We hope the tender will be completed within a week from now,? he said.
As many as 9 consortiums took part in the prequalification including consortium EGAT-PT Sumber Energy Batanghari, consortium Energy World-Priamanaya, consortium GCL-Poly Energy-PT Kerabat Prima Abadi, PT Nava Bharat Indonesia but only three of them met the technical and financial criteria to bid for the power project.
The winner of the project will develop, finance, construct and operate with net capacity of 2 x 100 MW on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis pursuant to a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) up to 30 (thirty) years.(godang)
