Kepodang-Tambak Lorok pipeline gains momentum

The introduction of National Gas Transmission and Distribution Network Master Plan should provide impetus for the realization of the long-delayed Kepodang-Tambak Lorok gas pipeline development project, according to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
Downstream regulator BPHMigas will carry out its supervisory duty that the gas master plan has been issued, following the monitoring of Kepodang pipeline project," Director of Oil and Gas Evita Legowo said to petromindo.com.
The Kepodang-Tambak Lorok pipeline, which will span about 200 km, is a part of the Kalimantan-Java (Kalija) gas transmission project awarded to PT Bakrie and Brothers. According to the initial plan, the pipeline project will be built in stages with the Kepodang-Tambak Lorok being the first. The construction will be then continued from Kepodang to gas fields in Kalimantan.
While the project was awarded in 2006, no development has been carried out so far. The signing of the Master Plan early in September is expected to help change that.
Separately, BPHMigas Chairman Andi N. Someng requested Bakrie to kick off the project as soon as possible by first finalizing the project?s gas transportation agreement (GTA).
Bakrie soon has to complete the GTA and construct the pipeline. Our target is to have the pipe ready for operation by 2014,? Andi said.
