The company?s officer told Petromindo.Com last week that the coal-gasification project will start construction in the second semester of 2011. The project is expected to be completed in mid-2013 and fully operated in early 2014.
?Once the project is fully operating, we need around 3 million tons of coal per year,? the official said.
Currently, the company is in ?serious? talk with East Kalimantan coal producer PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and Singapore-listed firm Straits Asia Resources, which has two coal mines in Indonesia, namely PT Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku and PT Jembayan Muarabara.
?We are still seeking other coal miners to supply the coal, which we have still time before the construction of the project is completed,? the official said.
The company needs coal with calorific value of 5,300-5,500 kcal/kg (GAR), high sulphur and high ash, the official said.
?High sulphur and high ash are needed in the process of our coal-gasification,? the official added. (denny)
