Kepulauan Riau province eyeing to reactivate marginal oil field

PT.Pembangunan Kepri, a company owned by Kepulauan Riau province said it was interested to take over operations of Sembilang marginal field which production had been stopped by South Natuna Block B operator ConocoPhillips.
Pembangunan Kepri CEO Cahyo Prakoso was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying that the company had held talks with ConocoPhillips and BPMIGAS over the plan to reactivate the field?s operations.
ConocoPhillips stooped its operations at Sembilang after it considered the field to be uneconomic. The field produces 1,700BPOD before the closure.
Meanwhile, Director General of Oil and Gas Evita Legowo told Petromindo.Com that thus far, the government has yet made any decision whether to hand over the field?s operation to provincial government. (godang)
