UK oil and gas firm Salamander Energy said the construction of the gas processing facility at Kerendan field in Bangkanai PSC, onshore Central Kalimantan is well advanced and is due to be completed in September 2014.
The gas will be delivered to the Kerendan power plant being constructed by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) 3 km from the field.
?PLN?s power plant is also progressing well,? the firm said in its 2013 full year results released on Thursday.
PLN contracted Wartsila to construct the gas engines and other surface facilities for the plant. The gas engines are currently being shipped to site, the firm explained.
PLN has advised that the planned capacity of the power plant in phase one has been expanded from 120 MW to 155 MW providing scope for Salamander to supply above the volumes in the current GSA.
PLN has planned for a second phase of construction at the power plant increasing capacity to 350 MW in 2016. This would require 70MMscfd to meet capacity and Salamander is well placed to provide this from currently booked contingent resources on the Kerendan field.
?Work is underway with an Indonesian reserves certification agency to move the contingent resources into the proven and probable reserves category which would allow another GSA to be negotiated and signed,? the firm said.
