Kerosene price in Tenggarong still at sky level: legislators

The price of kerosene in Tenggarong area, East Kalimantan is still at sky level particularly because of the lack of supply from the state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina to local distributors, Speaker of the Kutai regent House of Representatives Bachtiar Effendi.

Bachtiar led a survey recently to check the price of fuel products in several areas in Tenggarong, which recently was reportedly to have seen soaring kerosene price.

Kerosene is the basic fuel product used by the people for their stoves. The soaring kerosene price in Tenggarong is an irony particularly because the area is actually one of the oil-rich area in East Kalimantan.

The local Kaltim Post daily quoted Bachtiar as saying the kerosene price in Tenggarong was still hovering at around Rp 750 per liter versus the price set up by the government at Rp 350 per liter.

Bachtiar said that the local distributors had complained Pertamina's slowness in supplying the kerosene product to them. (*)
