Key points in new regulation on gas allocation and utilization

The Directorate General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) said the government is in the process of revising MEMR Regulation No. 3/2010 on Natural Gas Allocation and Utilization for the Fulfillment of Domestic Needs.

According to Agus Cahyono Adi, Program Management Director at the directorate general, key points in the regulation are as follows:
- Stipulating that policies regarding gas allocation and price will be determined by the minister of energy and mineral resources
- Setting rules regarding the role of state owned enterprises owned by the central government as well as regional governments (BUMD).
- Outlining the government?s program of building natural gas stations and developing gas distribution networks for households.
- Specifying industries that get priorities for gas utilization
- Setting rules regarding gas trading chain
- Setting rules regarding exports and tender
- Setting rules regarding the utilization of flare gas, CBM and unclean gas.
