A public prosecutor at the Central Jakarta Distric Court has asked the judges to sentence Antonius Wamang for 20 years in prison for being found guilty of murdering two American teachers and their Indonesian colleague by firing their vehicle near a copper and gold mine in Timika, Papua operated by US-owned Freeport McMoRan, Kompas reported Saturday.
The public prosecutor's head Anita Asterida said that Wamang and other suspects were found guilty of plotting to murder Lynn Spier, Edwin Leon Burgon, two American citizens and their friend FX Bambang Riwanto, an Indonesian.
The prosecutor also asked the court to sentence two other main suspects Agustinus Anggaibak and Julianus Deikme for 15 years in jail respectively and four other suspects Ishak Onawame, Esau Onawame, Hardi Tsugumol and Yairus Kiwak alias Kibak for eight years in jail respectively.
The prosecutor read the charges without the presence of the suspects who refused to attend the trial session because one of them failed to appear for being sick. (*)
