KfW pledges 2b euro loan for RI power sector development

Germany?s Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (KfW) is set to provide up to 2 billion euro (Rp 31.69 trillion) of loans until 2019 to the government of Indonesia and state-owned firms to help finance the development of power plants particularly renewable-based energy, and transmission lines.

KfW Representative Christoph Twerenbold was quoted by detik.com as saying that about 300 million euro has been disbursed to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

He added that the loan facility should also help finance the development of the Indonesian government?s planned 35,000 MW power plant projects. (*)
