Khatulistiwa seeks to build FSRU, power plant

National oil and gas firm PT PT Khatulistiwa Mandala Energi said it plans to carry out a twin project in Jakarta area, where an FSRU will be developed along with a gas-fired power plant in Jakarta area.

?This is going to be the first project in Indonesia where an FSRU will be integrated with a power plant,? President Director Ari Rahim told petromindo.com during a recent oil and gas seminar in Jakarta.

The first phase of the project is the FSRU with a regassification capacity of 400 mmscfd, with investment estimated at US$500 million, including operation expenditure.

Soon afterward, a 2x400 MW of power plant will be constructed. ?For this second phase, investment is estimated to reach $1 billion,? said Ari.

Ari said the company is currently selecting a number of EPC contractors, including Samsung C&T and Hoegh LNG. ?We expect the construction to start sometimes in 2014.?
