Kideco produces 3.26 million tons coal in Q1

East Kalimantan coal miner PT. Kideco Jaya Agung produced 3.26 million tons of coal during the first quarter of 2003, higher than previous quarter?s production of 2.97 million tons, according to data obtained from ministry of energy and mineral resources.
Despite higher production in the first quarter, the company actually missed around 10 percent of production target due to bad weather in February.
According to the data, the company exported around 2.20 million tons of coal during the quarter, while some 1.32 million tons were sold to the domestic markets.
Kideco, a subsidiary of Sam Tan Co. Ltd of South Korea, plans to produce around 12.5 million tons this year from its coalmine in Pasir regency, East Kalimantan.(robert)
