Kideco says heavy rain not affect production target

East Kalimantan coalminer PT. Kideco Jaya Agung is optimistic to reach this year?s production target of 18 million ton despite heavy rainfall that hit the company?s mine since November last year.

?The rain had cause trouble in earth moving activities, but mining activities are relatively unaffected. Kideco?s production from January to April this year has reached 6.2 million tons, which means Kideco is still on track to produce 18 million tons as planned this year,? Kideco?s managing director Kim Sung Kook told Petromindo.Com in an interview Tuesday.

Earlier, another official from Kideco said that at some point of time the mine?s production had been reduced by 40 percent from 50,000 daily due to heavy rain.

Kim predicted that the heavy rainfall would ease early June as dry season approached.. (alex)
