Kideco targets 9.5 million tons coal production this year

Coal mining company PT Kideco Jaya Agung said Tuesday it expected to produce 9.5 million tons of coal in 2001 as against 8 million tons in 2000.
Kideco , which is the country?s fifth largest coal producer, operates a mine in Pasir Regency, East Kalimantan
Kideco is fully owned by Sam Tan Company Limited of South Korea.
Company administration manager Ali Patan, told Petromindo.com that the company was currently boosting production to meet the 2001 target.
? In 2002, we set to further increase production to up to 11 million tons per annum,? he said.
According to ministry of energy and mineral resources data, Kideco produced 2.1 million tons of coal in the first quarter of the year as against 1.8 million tons in the first quarter of last year.
The company?s output fell sharply to 575,000 tons in February from 753,000 tons in January due to the combination of heavy rainfall and labour strike which forced the company to stop production for almost 10 days.
Company output improved to 766,000 tons in March.

Kideco sells most of its coal to Korea, Taiwan, Slovenia, Japan and The Philippines with the total export of 1.6 million tons in the first quarter of the year.(alex)
