ASX-listed Killara Resources recently stated it has acquired results of laboratory analysis from samples collected within expected ranges of Lemau Formation at the Bengkulu coal project.

The project, covers 2,000ha of the larger Bengkulu Forearc Basin, is 85% owned by Killara and was acquired at the end of last year.

Recent Killara field work, supporting previous regional geological mapping from Indonesia?s Ministry of Mining and Energy Resources, shows that the location covers the prospective Lemau formation and an area of Quarternary volcanics.

"Despite poor field conditions due to the ongoing wet season Killara geologists identified and sampled two coal outcrops from the Lemau Formation with a potential strike length of 3.5km," the company said, adding that presence of a moderate energy, direct export thermal coal with low levels of ash and sulphur is indicated.

Seam thicknesses could not be fully measured due to high river and tributary water levels and so Killara is negotiating an extension of the four month due diligence period to allow reassessment under more favourable field conditions.

Assay results are shown in table below.
