ASX-listed Kingsrose Mining Limited announced Tuesday that underground diamond drilling has commenced at the Talang Santo gold mine, located on the Way Linggo Project in South Sumatra.

?The main objective of this initial drilling program is to delineate and confirm the continuity of the Splay vein at Talang Santo between the 3 and 4 Levels and to infill along strike below the existing development on the 3 Level,? the company said in a statement.

The results of the program will provide for an evaluation of the Splay vein?s extent prior to accessing in on the 4 Level, with the sinking of the internal shaft from the 3 Level now underway, it added.

Kingsrose said that program will also test a structure in the footwall known as the Silver vein, which is of similar orientation to the Splay vein and has previously returned intersections from surface drilling including:
? DDH 246 3.65m @ 8.38 g/t Au and 36.0 g/t Ag;
? DDH 225 1.9m @ 8.35 g/t Au and 6.20 g/t Ag; and
? DDH 208 0.8m @ 2.50 g/t Au and 852.0 g/t Ag.

Elsewhere, it said that further targets have been identified within the main mineralized structure located to the North West at Talang Santo and an area known as the Central Mawi vein will also be targeted during this program, via access from the current 3 Level development.

A recent review of all drilling results in the company?s database has confirmed the continuity of the main mineralized structure currently being mined at Talang Santo. Mineralization extends well beyond the existing mine development to approximately 800 meters along strike at a horizon around the planned 5 Level of the mine.

Kingsrose said an integral part of the company?s ongoing wider growth strategy is to identify near mine resource development opportunities proximal to the existing Talang Santo infrastructure.

Therefore to enable the further testing of the full extent of the mineralized corridor in the lower Levels of the Talang Santo Mine, planning of a further drilling program from the 4 Level is now underway. The objective of the drilling program is to upgrade the level of confidence in the current Talang Santo resource and define additional resources. The outcome of this drilling program in conjunction with the evaluation of the orebody at Talang Samin over the next 6 ? 8 months, will form the basis of any decision to expand current plant capacity at the Way Linggo mill.
