Kitadin, Bukit Baiduri coal output up, Multi Harapan Utama down in Q1

Coal mining companies Kitadin and Bukit Baiduri Enterprises, both operating in East Kalimantan, doubled their output in the first quarter of the year as against the corresponding period of last year, according to the data at the ministry of energy and mineral resources.
According to the data made available to Petromindo.Com on Monday, Kitadin's output for the period ended March 31 was 319,000 tons as against 156,000 tons in the last-year period.
Last year, Kitadin produced a total of 825,000 tons of coal, which was mostly dedicated for export markets.
Meanwhile, Bukit Baiduri reported the production of 510,000 tons of coal during the first quarter of the year, as against 208,000 tons in the corresponding period of last year.
The company produced 1.99 million of coal in 2000, mostly sold on the domestic market.
Meanwhile, Multi Harapan Utama, a coal producer which also operates in East Kalimantan, reported the production of 296,000 tons during the first quarter of the year, slightly down from last year's corresponding period output of 315,000 tons.
Last year, the company produced 1.2 millions which were sold on domestic and overseas markets. (alex/godang)
