Australian listed mining company Iluka Resources said Tuesday output from its Indonesian tin mining subsidiary PT Koba Tin increased significantly to 3,920 metric tons in the second quarter of 2001, compared to 2,550 metric tons it produced during the same quarter last year.
Koba Tin?s production in the first quarter of 2001 was 3,460 metric tons.
?Higher tin production during the second quarter was due to increased availability of tin for purchase from small-scale miner,? said Iluka in a statement.
PT Koba Tin which operates tin mine in Bangka Belitung province, is 75 percent owned by Iluka, while the remaining 25 percent is owned by publicly listed state tin miner PT Tambang Timah Tbk. (alex)
