Kodeco still repairing Poleng pipeline leakage

Upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS said on Monday that efforts to fix the leakage on the pipeline connecting two platforms in Poleng TAC, offshore East Java was still in progress.

The TAC is operated by South Korean oil, gas firm Kodeco Energy.

?The leakage is occurring on the pipeline linking the CW platform to the DW platform, which normally produces 9,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd). Including the KL5 field, which normally produces 5,000 bpd, there is thus a total loss of 14,000 bopd in potential output," BPMIGAS' Deputy Chairman for Operations Dodi Hidayat told reporters.

As a result of the leakage, the TAC had also suspended gas productions, he said. Normally, the TAC field produces 60 MMCFD of gas.

"We expect the repair works to be completed next week," Dodi said.

The leakage was discovered early last month. On April 8, Dodi said the leakage had forced Kodeco to cut down the Poleng's oil and gas output. He also said the repair works would be completed within weeks.

Gas from Poleng together with gas from nearby West Madura PSC, which is also operated by Kodeco, is transmitted through 14-inch 65-km pipeline to onshore processing facility in industrial city of Gresik. Kodeco sold its gas to state-owned gas distribution firm PGN and fertilizer maker PT Petrokimia Gresik.

Dodi said oil, gas production at West Madura PSC remained normal at 4,500 BPOD and 45 MMCFD. (bernard/godang)
