South Korea's Korean Gas Corporation (KOGAS) voiced on Monday interest to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Tangguh project in Papua.

The firm voiced the interest during the Indonesia-Korea Joint  Working Group on Energy attended by senior governmental officials and top executives of oil and gas energy firms from both countries.

KOGAS'  senior official Kihwan Park said Kogas would buy LNG from a third train to be built at the Tangguh project. The consortium led by British firm BP PLC is building two trains at the Tangguh project and has yet to announce if it has also a plan to build other trains at the LNG complex.

Two South Korean firms, Posco and SK Corp, are among the companies that will get LNG supplies from the two trains now under construction at the Tangguh LNG complex.

Park also said his company was also interested in developing natural gas in Indonesia. The firm will thus participate in the future tender of oil and gas blocks in the country.  (Godang)
