Kogas seeks additional LNG cargoes from Indonesia: Pertamina

State oil and gas company Pertamina said on Friday that South Korea?s Kogas is seeking 9 additional cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Indonesia to be shipped starting immediately to South Korea.

?But thus far, we have not agreed to their request because we are not sure whether Bontang LNG plant could accommodate additional demand due to instability of gas supplies from East Kalimantan gas producers,? Pertamina downstream Muchsin Bahar told reporters.

Pertamina is Kogas? top LNG supplier with 8.19 million tons of LNG shipped annually.

Kogas is actively seeking additional supply of LNG due to increase in domestic LNG consumption. Kogas had signed its first-ever term deal for LNG with Australia's North West Shelf. The importer is expected to buy 500,000-tonnes per annum over a seven-year period. Kogas is also reported to be in talks with Malaysian oil and gas giant Petronas over a seven-year deal to supply up to 1.5 million tonnes on an annual basis. (godang)
