PT Koneba plans to set up a coal briquette factory with a capacity of up to 10 tons per day to take the advantage of the growing demand of the coal briquette in the country, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

"We hope the construction of the coal briquette factory could be commenced later this year," said the marketing director of PT Koneba, Judianto Hasan. But he did not explain the location of the briquette factory.

According to him, the market for the coal briquette is quite promising right now with the continued increase in the demand. "The demand might soon reach five million tons a year while the existing factories are only able to provide a supply of only about 200,000 tons a day," he added.

He said that the construction of the coal briquette power plant with a capacity of 10 tons a day would cost about Rp 1 billion. "But the investment could be reduced if the plant uses locally made equipment," he added. (*)
