Korean firm to build hydropower plant

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of the hydropower plant was signed by the Public Works Ministry and the South Korean company in Jakarta on Monday.
The Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto said in Jakarta on Monday that the investment for the construction of the hydropower plant, which would be built in Muaro Juloi, Central Kalimantan, was expected to reach US$40 million.
Korea Midland Power?s president director, Choi Pyeong-Rak said that the Korean company had conducted a research for the construction of the power plant, which would become among the largest hydropower plants in Indonesia.
He said that Korea Midland was involved in the construction of four power plants in Indonesia, including the Tanjung Jati coal-fired power plant in Cirebon, West Java. (*)
