PT BioGreen Power Kobar, a member of the Korindo business group, stated that it has completed the feasibility study (FS) for developing a biomass power plant with the capacity of 10 MW at Pangkalan Bun, Kota Waringin Barat regency, Central Kalimantan province.

Geunhyo An, a director of the company, told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that with FS having been completed, the company is currently looking forward for obtaining the environment license (AMDAL) for the project. ?In order to get the AMDAL license, we need endorsement from the local regent. Hopefully, we will obtain it within days, as we have already fulfilled all the requirements,? he said.

Geunhyo revealed that currently the company is conducting interconnection study with public utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) regarding transmission for the project. ?Hopefully, the interconnection study will be completed within one or two months,? he said adding that once the interconnection study is completed, the firm and PLN will soon sign the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the project.

He revealed that the project will use mangium (Acacia mangium) and pelita (Eucalyptus pellita) trees as fuel feedstock. The company has budgeted investment of around US$ 2 million per MW and will use the technology from Korea and Japan. Meanwhile for the feedstock, the company has a concession of about 70,000 ha of lands which are being planted with mangium and pelita trees.
